Having participated in his fifth World Cup in Qatar, Messi expressed that this particular victory held an extraordinary significance because his sons had reached an age where they could fully relish the triumph.

Lionel Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo were childhood friends in their hometown. Despite their strong bond, Messi had to depart for Spain at the age of 13 to pursue his football training.
Their paths converged again in 2005 when Messi returned to console Roccuzzo after a personal tragedy. After four years of being together, they publicly acknowledged their romantic relationship.
In 2010, Messi proposed to Antonela, and in July 2017, the couple tied the knot in their hometown of Rosario, Argentina.

Messi and Roccuzzo experienced the joy of parenthood for the first time on November 2, 2012, when they welcomed their son Thiago. Soon after his birth, Messi expressed his profound love for his young son in a lasting manner by getting his name and handprints tattooed on his calf.
Thiago, who has now reached the age of 10, exhibited a passion for football from a tender age and was a member of the Barcelona academy during Messi’s tenure there. Presently, he is actively involved in the PSG academy.

On September 11, 2015, Messi and Roccuzzo became parents for the second time as they joyfully welcomed their son Mateo.

During an interview, Messi openly shared that while Thiago is known as the “calm sibling,” Mateo inherits his competitive spirit. In fact, after Messi and Argentina suffered a surprising loss to Saudi Arabia in their opening World Cup match, Messi revealed that Mateo left the stadium in tears.
“My family experiences the same emotions as all Argentines, but we find happiness and regain our composure because now our progress lies in our own hands,” Messi expressed.
Ciro Messi Rocuzzo, 4
On March 10, 2018, Messi and Rocuzzo welcomed their youngest child, Ciro.
Both Lionel and Antonela commemorated their youngest son’s birth by getting tattoos dedicated to him. Messi had Ciro’s name and birthday inscribed on his calf, alongside his brothers’ names, while Rocuzzo adorned her arm with the name “Ciro.”

Being the youngest among his siblings, Messi mentioned that Ciro is still in the process of developing his own unique personality.
During an interview with Sports Illustrated in 2018, Messi expressed that the birth of his three sons has had a profound impact on his life. He further revealed that, apart from his family, his greatest source of happiness would be to lead Argentina to World Cup glory.
