Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s long-awaited passion project, the Black Adam movie, finally materialized in October 2022. Despite the film’s financial success and more, it unfortunately received harsh criticism from reviewers.
Since then, The Great One has faced significant criticism for the challenges faced by WB, as fans and critics alike accused him of transforming Black Adam into a self-indulgent endeavor. Whether these accusations hold truth or not remains to be seen, but Zachary Levi, the actor responsible for portraying Shazam, expressed his emotions unequivocally.
On his Instagram story, Levi shared a post expressing concerns about The Rock’s alleged alterations to both the stories of Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. According to a tweet from the Public Enemies Podcast, it is claimed that The Rock made attempts to reshape the DCEU around himself and Henry Cavill as Superman.
Despite Black Adam originally being Shazam’s antagonist, the claim suggests that Dwayne Johnson tried to enforce a narrative that would unite Black Adam and Superman, effectively sidelining Shazam from the story.
As of the writing of this article, Johnson has not yet responded to the claim.
There have been rumors circulating that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will compete at WrestleMania 39.
This is not the first time Johnson’s reputation has been negatively affected on social media. There was a rumor that a potential Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match with Roman Reigns was canceled due to speculation that The Brahma Bull couldn’t get into proper physical shape in time for The Royal Rumble.
That report was recently refuted by former writer Brian Gewirtz, who currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Development at Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions. Gewirtz appeared on the Bill Simmons Podcast.
“I know that is not the case. That is not the reason, whether it happens or doesn’t happen. I know it’s a line. It just took a life of its own where, all of a sudden, everyone reading it on the internet and Twitter takes it as a fact, to the point where Roman goes on The Tonight Show and tells Jimmy Fallon, ‘I understand Rock made a statement and doesn’t have time to get into ring shape?'” (H/T courtesy of 411Mania.com)
Whether or not it’s true that The Rock was ever going to compete at The Show of Shows, Roman Reigns and WWE have at least found themselves a compelling story with Cody Rhodes heading into WrestleMania 39.
