When Barilla, a dog in Granada, Spain, reached a cat and dog rescue center, her condition was cause for great concern. Thin and feeble, her organs were barely functioning, and she had become immobile, paralyzed in one place.

It took an additional six weeks for her to reestablish a proper eating routine, but she ultimately regained the ability to frolic and leap like any healthy dog.

Eduardo Rodriguez, the proprietor of the shelter, became enchanted by Barilla’s indomitable spirit and made the decision to adopt her.
