The Maserati 450S is a high-performance automobile created by the esteemed Italian car manufacturer, Maserati, with the purpose of participating in the prestigious 1957 World Sportscar Championship. It emerged as a formidable contender, posing a significant challenge to renowned brands such as Jaguar, Ferrari, and Aston Martin.
The Maserati 450S was equipped with a V-8 4477 cm3 (272.9 ci) engine that delivered an impressive power output of 400 PS (394 horsepower). With its 5-Speed Manual transmission, this friendly vehicle reached a top speed of 320.3 kph (199.0 mph).
Nine versions were created in total. The 450S project commenced in 1954, with Vittorio Bellentani and Guido Taddeucci leading the effort under the codename Tipo 54. Their objective was to employ engines of greater capacity compared to the 3-liter ones found in the Maserati 300S. Notably, the 450S proved to be a victorious racing car, achieving first position in the 1957 Swedish Grand Prix and the Sebring 12 Hours.
